Lao gov't gives green light to import fixed Samsung Galaxy Note 7
VIENTIANE, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Lao government will allow Samsung and its mobile distributors nationwide to sell new and fixed Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones, state-run news agency KPL reported on Tuesday.
In the beginning of September, Samsung asked customers worldwide to return their handsets following reports by users that their phones had exploded during or after charging.
Samsung has said that battery problems were the cause of the phones catching fire.
Samsung had sold about 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 units across the globe before making the massive recall.
On Sept. 20, Lao Ministry of Post and Telecommunications issued an announcement urging smartphone shops and distributors nationwide to stop importing and distributing the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.
On Sept. 28, the Lao Samsung Company sent documents to the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications acknowledging the problems with the Note 7 smartphones and stating its commitment to correct the mechanical errors w車隊監控系統ith the device.
Two days later, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued notice urging Samsung and its distributors nationwide to recall all Note 7 smartphones they have sold and exchange them with new fixed units.
